The FHM Fire District has recently acquired a new
rescue boat with motor and trailer.
It
is a 12 foot 6 inch inflatable Sea Eagle. It's lightweight (150 lbs)
makes it easy to deploy.
For quarries and other currentless bodies of water it can be maneuvered
by oars.
For
larger bodies of water or the canal it has an 8 horsepower, 4 stroke
Honda outboard.
The
boat will be kept inflated on the trailer. The trailer has a toolbox
containing life vests
for the boat crew, as well as assorted rope throw bags, life
bouys, and Rescue Pole System by MARSARS. This will make the
boat/trailer self sufficient that can be towed to a scene by our
rescue #65 or by a chiefs vehicle with a 2" hitch ball.
The
FHM Fire Dept. will begin training on the boat this month with the
intention of having it in service by mid May.
This
boat and all equipment were made possible by a grant from State
Senator Maziarz.
