A local resident drove to the lake at the end of the Monroe Orleans County Line Road and discovered a pick-up truck sitting in the lake. He returned to his home a short distance away and advised 911 of the incident. The Morton Fire Department and Hamlin Ambulance were dispatched to the scene. 2C21 arrived, and as he descended down a short embankment to investigate further, the truck started and the rear wheels began spinning in the water. The Chief moved quickly out of the direction of the truck and warned oncoming vehicles to clear a path in case the truck did get traction. It appears from the position of the truck, and skid marks going toward the water, that the driver may have crashed into the lake and then drove a short distance getting turned around and attempted to drive back on land. It is unknown how long the vehicle and driver were in the water. Rescue 218, the Hamlin Ambulance and Monroe Ambulance arrived, the driver of the vehicle walked up on higher ground and patient care was undertaken. After Sheriff Deputies concluded an initial investigation, the driver was transported to Strong. The fire department assisted the Sheriff’s in completing their investigation and returned to service shortly after the driver was transported.
