Kendall Fire, along with Morton for an engine and a rescue, Holley for a Quint and Hamlin for a FAST Team were dispatched this morning for a structure fire on Kenmore Road, just east of the village. Kendall One arrived and declared a working fire. Kendall Engine 34 arrived and a hand line was stretched to the rear of the building where heavy fire was consuming a cellar stairway enclosure. This exterior fire was quickly knocked down and exterior extension controlled. Kendall Engine 33 took a hydrant west of the scene and stretched a supply line to Engine 34. Kendall Tanker 52 staged at the hydrant. Morton Engine 215 took a hydrant west of the scene and laid into the scene. This line was not put into operation. Hamlin Engine 243 arrived and firefighters established the FAST Team Sector. Holley’s Quint 40 and Morton’s Rescue 218 arrived and staged at the scene. The Hulberton Fire Department responded with a squad to assist with traffic control and Carleton filled-in at the Kendall Fire Station. Monroe Ambulance established a medical and rehab sector along with the Kendall Ambulance crew. Morton Firefighters stretched a second line from Kendall 34, which was first used to back-up Kendall Firefighters, and then stretched into the interior, through the front door, as a back-up line in support of interior operations checking for extension. This line was charged but not put into operation. After ensuring no interior extension had occurred the fire was declared under control at approximately 9:00 AM. Early discovery and a quick response kept this to an exterior incident. Another couple of minutes and there would have been extension into the structure.
