Hamlin Fire Burn Drill
483 Lake Road West Fork
11/10/2007
All participating companies met at the Hamlin Fire Station at 7:00 AM on
November 10th, 2007
to review preplans for a barn burning detail at the Breslawski Farm, 483 Lake
Road, West Fork.
Chief Daryl Prince, 2C14, outlined these assignments:
Hilton 262 – Cover Hamlin Fire District as fill-in company
Holley Quint – Set-up in south driveway
Hamlin Pumper 242 – Lay a line from hydrant & supply the ladder
Hamlin Pumper 243 – Set-up drafting operations from dump tanks in
north driveway to supply blitz and hand lines
Brockport Pumper 2325 – Set-up tanker fill operations on the Moscow Road
Hamlin, Walker, Morton and Kendall pumper/tankers – Provide water supply shuttle
Hamlin Rescue 248 and Squad 2418 – Stand-by at scene
All units and personnel then relocated to the burn detail site and commenced
setting-up for operations. Once the dump tanks were filled and lines charged,
the barn was ignited. Within approximately five minutes it was completely
involved with flames rolling out of every opening and venting from the roof.
The object of the drill was to remove the structure, protect all exposures
and give newer firefighters apparatus experience and training. All objectives
were met and all units began to pick-up by 10:00 AM.
